Why Wilmington again? NOT
Yep, had plans reservations to go back to Wilmington this year. Why not? They have work from Hurricane Florence for at least 2-4 more years. But then the pandemic of COVID-19 arrived. The Lebanon area was hit and eastern Pennsylvania very quickly became a hotspot. Not something you want to be on the front page of newspapers about. In May, we made the decision it was best to not travel to North Carolina. What would happen if one of us would get struck by the virus while we were in NC, all of us would be in quarantine. Where would be our support system to provide our basic necessities? Instead, we decided it was time to stay home and do work for our congregation. The announcement went out and the jobs started to come in. Things were looking up, but one of the important things for us was to be together. Those evening stories are half of our trip. No problem, Pine Acres is going to serve as our home away from home for the week. And while we're there, we have a list of things that we'd like to help improve. Perhaps at a future church service at Pine Acres, you'll be able to see some of those improvements. 20 years of doing mission work together. When the group was asked what were the number 1 and 2 things of doing mission work, the answers were loud and clear....Working together and serving people. It doesn't need to be in a different state, it's always been about where God calls us to be. And in 2020, God is calling us to be St Mark's strong. |
